Jyväskylä Meetup Groups and Upcoming Events

A lot seems to be happening at Jyväskylä even if Geek Collision itself might not be that active. I thought it could be a good idea to highlight some coming events and meetup groups:

  • Jyväskylä WordPress Meetup - The WordPress guys have a monthly meetup. Incidentally they are meeting today (19th of April, starting from 18:00 at Sohwi)
  • Design Jyväskylä - This is a new group. They will have their starting meetup on Wednesday (20th of April, starting from 19:00 at Vihreä Haltiatar)
  • HackJKL - This is a workshop focused group. It will have its first event next Monday. It will discuss serverless architectures, particularly Amazon Lambda (Monday, 25th of April, starting from 17:00 at SC5).
  • AgileJkl Meetup Jyväskylä - This discussion focused group had its first session last week. If you want to discuss about software development in a friendly context, this is a good group to join.
  • #taskujkl - This is a monthly lunch meetup that is announced through Twitter. You can find people working on social media, marketing, software development there.
  • Expa - Expa has monthly game development related events (Expa / IGDA).
  • Jyväskylä Entrepreneurship Society (JES) - JES has monthly events related to entrepreneurship (mainly for students).

To get a good idea of what sort of events are going to happen, check out Jyväskylä ES calendar. I also maintain a Jyväskylä specific calendar with geeky events. Subscribing is the easiest way to get possible upcoming events straight to your phone/laptop/device.

Agile Coaching Camp Finland

Agile Finland will organize a coaching camp at May over a weekend (20-22). There will be an open space portion and good chances to network with software professionals across the country.

Participating costs 350 euros and it includes accommodation, food, etc. You will still need to figure out how to get to Naantali, though. See Agile Coaching Camp Finland site for more information.

Upcoming Webpack and React Sessions

If anyone is interested in Webpack or React, I will most likely be arranging related sessions in June. Just need to figure out under which meetup to put it and how to make the timing work.
